Wedbush: AppLovin Court Request Denied
Wedbush analyst Alicia Reese says a San Francisco court yesterday denied AppLovin's (APP) request for a temporary restraining order against Unity's (U) Ad Quality SDK, and its request for a preliminary injunction hearing. AppLovin alleges the SDK collects data on ads it serves through MAX and that Unity may have used it in its models, the analyst tells investors in a research note. Wedbush interprets the ruling as a decision against court-ordered interim relief, not a judgment on the merits. "It's easy to assume that AppLovin wouldn't resort to a legal case if its competitors aren't gaining ground," contends the firm. It believes yesterday's ruling suggests that protecting AppLovin's data quickly may be harder than it appears, particularly where it passes through publishers' apps. It doubts AppLovin restricts Unity's MAX access.
