USA Rare Earth Partners with Pasqal and Riven Systems for Separation Technology

USA Rare Earth (USAR), Pasqal (PSQL) and Riven Systems announced a strategic partnership to develop next-generation separation technology for the rare earth value chain. Using quantum machine learning, the project aims to identify new separation molecules that bind more effectively to rare earths than existing alternatives, enabling smaller, lower-cost, less energy-intensive processing facilities. Together, the companies aim to explore technologies that could help support a more secure, efficient and competitive Western rare earth supply chain. The partnership brings together Riven's self-driving minerals separation laboratory and Pasqal's quantum computing power with USA Rare Earth's rare earth processing expertise. Under the planned project, Riven would conduct thousands of automated experiments and generate the training data needed to build machine learning models of extractant selectivity for rare earth elements. Pasqal's Neutral Atom QPU would then benchmark quantum machine learning models against classical computing-based models to support USA Rare Earth in optimizing extractant selection.

USA Rare Earth Breaks Ground on New Facility in South Carolina

USA Rare Earth broke ground on its new rare earth metal and magnet manufacturing facility in Blacksburg, South Carolina, marking a major step in the Company's effort to build a secure, integrated rare earth supply chain for the United States and its allies. Located on a 124-acre site in Bailey Industrial Park in Cherokee County, the approximately 800,000-square-foot facility represents an approximately $1.2B investment and is expected to create roughly 490 high-skill, high-wage manufacturing jobs in South Carolina's Upstate. Once online, the facility is targeting production capacity of 6,400 metric tons per annum of sintered neodymium-iron-boron permanent magnets and 5,000 tpa of strip-cast metal and alloy, with commissioning targeted to begin in 2028.
