Trade Desk Shares Rise as Amazon Faces FTC Lawsuit
Shares of Trade Desk (TTD) are rising after media reports said the Federal Trade Commission and more than 20 states plan to sue Amazon.com (AMZN), alleging the company manipulated the prices businesses paid to advertise on its platform. The suit claims Amazon secretly raised the minimum price advertisers had to pay to promote their products, FTC officials said, causing advertisers to incur billions of dollars in higher costs. Shares of Trade Desk gained almost 2% in afternoon trading, while Amazon has dropped over 3%.

Cboe data suggests bullish flow in Trade Desk (TTD), with shares up 18c, or 1.29%, near $13.74. Options volume relatively light with 41k contracts traded and calls leading puts for a put/call ratio of 0.36, compared to a typical level near 0.52. Implied volatility (IV30) is higher by 1.2 points near 51.91,in the bottom quartile of the past year, suggesting an expected daily move of $0.45. Put-call skew flattened, suggesting a modestly bullish tone.
The Trade Desk Launches Kokai Zuma Platform
The Trade Desk introduced Kokai Zuma, the new release of its Kokai platform. Tech Weakness Weighs on S&P 500 and Nasdaq
Fragile sentiment in the tech space weighed on broader indices as S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite begin the final full week of August with a loss. Semiconductors and memory stocks were the hardest hit on Monday as investors digest capital return announcement from Samsunglate last week, fret about press reports that Nvidiahas flagged price hikes, and also position for Nvidia earnings, PCE inflation, and Fed Chair Wash speech at Jackson Hole this week. Technology and Industrials were the worst-performing sectors in the benchmark index. In turn, Consumer Defensive names outperformed, with traders rotating into discount retail giants that fell out of favor last week on disappointing results - Walmartwas up 2.7% and Costcowas up 2.5%. Credit Services was also strong as Visaand Mastercardboth gained over 3% on Monday.In the opening hour of the evening session index futures are a little changed - S&P e-minis and Nasdaq 100 contracts are just above 7,670 and 29,100 respectively. In commodities, WTI Crude Oil continues to trade in a narrow band in the mid-$80s.
