Sysco Reaches Agreement with Teamsters Union to Restore Normal Operations
Sysco announced that the company has reached an agreement with the International Brotherhood of the Teamsters Locals 630 and 848, representing warehouse colleagues and delivery partners, respectively. "This agreement represents an important step toward restoring normal operations while preserving our ability to provide the dependable, responsive service our customers expect," said Ron Phillips, Sysco's Chief Human Resources Officer. "Throughout this process, we remained focused on reaching a resolution that supports our colleagues without accepting terms that could negatively affect customer service or contribute to avoidable operational disruptions in the future."
Sysco Calls on Unions to End Los Angeles Strike
Sysco called on Teamsters Locals 630 and 848 to end their strike at Sysco's Los Angeles facility and finalize an agreement. The company said, "The parties have agreed on fair, generous and competitive wages, pension contributions, benefits and time off. The sole unresolved issue is union-demanded language that could permit strikes at any time, exposing customers and communities to repeated service disruption. Sysco's final offer provides an $8.00-per-hour wage increase by April 2027, with wage growth of more than 40% over the contract term. It also includes increased pension contributions and pension-eligible hours, a sixth week of vacation after 30 years of service, and double-time pay after 12 hours. By October 2029, the top hourly rate would exceed rates in a recently ratified agreement with another major foodservice distributor. The strike risks disrupting service across the Los Angeles area. Sysco remains committed to bargaining in good faith and reaching a complete agreement that delivers the economic terms already agreed, while protecting the service that hospitals, care facilities, schools, restaurants and other local customers rely on."
