Kratos Defense Breaks Ground on New Facilities in Indiana

Kratos Defense celebrated a joint groundbreaking ceremony at the Westgate Academy in Odon, Indiana, marking the beginning of construction for its new Helios and AN/SPY-1 facilities. These facilities are the product of $35M in funding through the Department of War's Industrial Base Analysis and Sustainment program and cost-sharing from Kratos. The new footprint will feature two distinct, purpose-built complexes. The first is an approximately 183,000-square-foot SPY-1 facility designed to establish a long-term organic capability for the repair, testing, integration, and sustainment of the Navy's AN/SPY-1 radar system. The second, the HELIOS Arc Jet & Laser Facility, will advance next-generation directed energy technologies, delivering high-energy laser solutions for integrated air and missile defense, counter-unmanned aircraft systems, and force protection missions. Helios is being designed to provide essential testing infrastructure for thermal protection systems used in hypersonic vehicles, combining a 20-25 MW arc jet capability with a 200-kW fiber laser system.

Airbus and Kratos Successfully Complete First Flight of U740-Valkyrie

Airbus (EADSY), in partnership with Kratos Defense & Security Solutions (KTOS), has successfully completed the first flight of the "U740-Valkyrie" in Europe. This key milestone confirms that Airbus and Kratos are on track to deliver a combat-ready uncrewed Collaborative Combat Aircraft, CCA, by 2029, addressing the operational requirements of the German and other European Armed Forces. Conducted at a test facility in Northern Europe, the flight achieved all objectives, including a runway independent rocket-assisted take-off, maneuvers at various altitudes and speeds up to Mach 0.8, as well as in-flight mission adjustments. "In an increasingly complex and contested threat environment, air forces require affordable combat mass," said Mike Schoellhorn, CEO of Airbus Defence and Space. "By pairing Kratos' proven airframe as a 'program of record' with Airbus' sovereign European mission system, we are able to offer a robust, sovereign, affordable, and combat-ready CCA system by the end of the decade."

Kratos Defense Secures Over $100M in Contracts

Kratos Defense announced multiple contract awards totaling over $100M to develop prototype mission applications and cyber capabilities providing space intelligence data in support of joint operations across the space and cyberspace domains. Work under the contracts will provide warfighters with capabilities to collect and process complex radio frequency (RF) signals, develop intelligence on the operational environment and support the joint targeting cycle - the process used to identify, prioritize and target assets. The prototype systems will support electronic warfare and offensive cyber operations, including capabilities for access and battle damage assessment.
