Trane Technologies Demonstrates First 800-Volt DC Cooling Architecture
Trane Technologies announced the laboratory demonstration of the industry's first 800-volt direct current cooling architecture designed to support the mission-critical energy and thermal demands of next-generation AI factories and gigawatt-scale data centers. First validated on a high-efficiency chiller platform, the proof-of-concept demonstrates the performance, efficiency and design advantages of direct current power distribution in mission-critical cooling plants. Trane Technologies, in collaboration with Eaton Corporation and Danfoss, modified an existing high-efficiency chiller to operate with an 800 VDC feed and validated the potential for up to 2% improvement in system efficiency over conventional AC counterparts while delivering over 1,000 tons of cooling capacity.
Eaton to Acquire COL Group for €810M
Eaton announced it has signed an agreement to acquire COL Group from Oaktree's Power Opportunities strategy. COL Group is a leader in medium-voltage electrical distribution solutions, including SF-free switchgear, grid automation technologies and modular power systems. The acquisition will expand Eaton's European power distribution capabilities and manufacturing footprint, enhancing its ability to support growing customer demand across data center and utility markets. Under the terms of the agreement, Eaton will acquire COL Group for an enterprise value of EUR810M. COL Group has forecasted sales of EUR250M for 2027. COL Group is an industrial group with over a century of experience specializing in the development of electrical power distribution solutions. The company has approximately 400 employees and facilities in Turin, Milan, Bergamo, and Catania, Italy. The transaction, which is subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals, is expected to close in the first quarter of 2027.
Eaton Invests $1M to Support The Nature Conservancy
Eaton announced a $1M investment over four years to support The Nature Conservancy's Global Freshwater Program and Forever Freshwater Geographies, helping protect and restore freshwater resources around the world. The investment will support freshwater conservation efforts across priority geographies, including the Western Balkans, Selva Maya, the Colorado River Basin, the Great Lakes and Appalachia. Through this collaboration, Eaton and TNC will work to advance freshwater resilience, support healthy ecosystems and strengthen communities in some of the world's most important freshwater landscapes. While Eaton has a long history of investing in communities, this commitment is one of the largest philanthropic contributions in the company's 115-year history.
Eaton Launches Workbench 360 to Enhance Building Project Management
Eaton (ETN) developed Workbench 360, an experience designed to bring its electrical equipment data, engineering expertise and project information to Autodesk (ADSK) Revit, Autodesk Forma and Autodesk Tandem. "Eaton and Autodesk aim to reduce manual handoffs, improve visibility and enable teams to better manage increasingly complex building projects. Workbench 360 is designed to help project teams maintain context and visibility as projects progress from design through construction and into operations across building, campus, healthcare and data center environments," the company said.
Eaton Invests Over $242M to Expand U.S. Manufacturing Base
Eaton announced a more than $242M investment to expand its U.S. manufacturing footprint with a new facility in North Little Rock, Arkansas. The company expects to double its U.S. manufacturing capacity of customized electrical enclosures from the Fibrebond business to help meet growing demand across data center, utility, industrial and digital communications markets. This investment is consistent with Eaton's long-term growth and capacity planning strategy for the Fibrebond business since its acquisition in April 2025. The new Eaton 1 million-square-foot facility is expected to create more than 1,200 manufacturing, electrical and operations jobs and expand workforce development opportunities in the region. Building on its proven workforce development approach, Eaton plans to provide hands-on training and career advancement opportunities that help employees develop technical skills and progress into higher-skilled roles. Governor Sanders, the Arkansas Economic Development Commission, City of North Little Rock, the Metro Little Rock Alliance, led by the Little Rock Regional Chamber, are important partners in Eaton's training and work force development efforts related to the site.
