DraftKings and Flutter Shares Rise as Court Rules Sports Bets Are Not Swaps

DraftKings (DKNG) and Flutter Entertainment (FLUT) are trading higher after the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit ruled that sports bets are not swaps, Bloomberg Law reported. The decision backs Nevada regulators and allows the state to treat sports-prediction markets as unlicensed sportsbooks, while sending Kalshi's election-contract dispute back for further review. The ruling introduces a circuit split that could eventually push the issue toward the Supreme Court, but for now investors appear to be interpreting the decision as supportive of the existing regulatory framework for traditional sportsbook operators. Shares of DraftKings have jumped more than 9% while Flutter has gained roughly 8% in afternoon trading.
