Soluna Holdings Partners with Applied Digital to Develop 50 MW Data Center
Soluna Holdings (SLNH) announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to form a jointly owned company with Applied Digital Corporation (APLD) to develop a planned 50 MW critical IT data center for AI and HPC at Project Dorothy 3, Soluna's development site near Silverton Texas and the Briscoe Wind Farm. Under the Transaction Agreement, Soluna is expected to contribute a portion of the Dorothy 3 site, including land and power-related project assets, to the Project Company, and Applied is expected to provide capital to support the development of the Project. Following the closing of the transactions contemplated by the Transaction Agreement, Applied is expected to hold a 51% interest in the Project Company, and Soluna is expected to hold the remaining 49% interest. The closing of the transactions contemplated by the Transaction Agreement is subject to the satisfaction of certain conditions precedent, including the approval of a tax abatement for the Project in Briscoe County, Texas, receipt of title policies, obtaining certain corporate approvals, successful negotiation and execution of the operating agreement for the Project Company, definitive leases, power agreements and other definitive agreements, and other customary conditions. The transactions are expected to close by the end of the calendar year. Dorothy 3 is a planned AI data center co-located with Briscoe Wind, a 150 MW wind farm in Briscoe County, Texas, near Soluna's Dorothy 1 and Dorothy 2 projects. Subject to definitive documentation, Phase 1 of Dorothy 3 is expected to draw power from both Briscoe Wind and the grid. ChronoScale Holdings Corporation (CHRN), an accelerated compute platform purpose-built to support demanding AI workloads and a publicly-traded company majority-owned by Applied, has signed a non-binding letter of intent to lease the planned facility. The lease remains subject to the negotiation and execution of definitive documentation, and there can be no assurance that a definitive lease will be entered into on the terms contemplated by the letter of intent, or at all.
Stock Futures Lower as Oil Prices and Treasury Yields Rise
Stock futures are lower as a renewed jump in oil prices and Treasury yields revives inflation concerns. Brent crude jumped nearly 5% to above $105 a barrel, while WTI climbed toward $93 as concerns over renewed U.S.-Iran military action increased. The 10-year Treasury yield rose to around 5.34%, near its highest level since 2002, putting additional pressure on equities, particularly high-valuation technology stocks. The broader setup is increasingly a tug-of-war between strong expected earnings and deteriorating macro conditions. LSEG expects S&P 500 earnings to rise 30.6% in the third quarter, but the market is confronting a 10-year yield near 5.35%, oil above $100 and a Fed that still expects at least one more rate hike this year.In pre-market trading, S&P 500 futures fell 0.41%, Nasdaq futures fell 0.68% and Dow futures fell 0.68%.Check out this morning's top movers from around Wall Street, compiled by The Fly.HIGHER -Haemoneticsup 17% after disclosing its entry into a non-exclusive supply agreement with CSL PlasmaWolfspeedup 16% after receiving a conditional loan commitment letter from the U.S. Department of War for up to $1.5B of long-term financingPalantirup 2% after Goldman Sachs upgraded the stock to Buy with a $230 price targetUP AFTER EARNINGS -Helen of Troyup 13%PepsiCoup 1%Applied Digitalup 1%DOWN AFTER EARNINGS -AngioDynamicsdown 2%Levi Straussdown 2%Tilraydown 1%
S&P 500 Ends Three-Day Gain as 10-Year Treasury Yield Hits New High
S&P 500 broke a string of three consecutive gaining sessions, backing away from yesterday's record highs. Investors took greater caution as the yield on the 10-year Treasury note hit a fresh 24-year high of 5.36% before relatively strong demand in today's 10-year auction drove that rate back down to 5.28%, driving some relief into the equity space.Healthcare was the best-performing sector in the S&P 500 on Wednesday while Basic Materials and Industrials were the two worst areas of the market. Precious metals stocks were also weighed down by multi-week lows in Gold and Silver prices. Tech was mixed again, with profit-taking among some of the biggest cybersecurity names that had seen record highs overnight, as Palo Alto Networksfell 3% and CrowdStrikefell 5% . Computer hardware names were generally higher however, paced by 4% gains in Everpure. Also of note, Micronrebounded to post 4% gains after opening the day 3% lower due to labor action in Taiwan.Check out this evening's top movers from around Wall Street, compiled by The Fly.HIGHER AFTER EARNINGS -Applied Digitalup 4.1%Richardson Electronicsup 1.8%ALSO HIGHER -Wolfspeedup 20.8% after announcing a $1.5B 30-year loan from Department of WarvTv Therapeuticsup 5.5% after securing Orphan Drug Designation for HPPDLattice Semiconductorup 2.0% after announcing Arm collaboration on AI data center infrastructureDOWN AFTER EARNINGS -Resources Connectiondown 12.6%Levi Straussdown 1.6%ALSO LOWER -MicroVision.down 7.2% after FY26 outlookONE Gasdown 1.4% after downgrade to Hold at JefferiesCostco Wholesaledown 0.3% after September SSS data
