The major averages finished mixed after the Dow reversed late in the day, with continued doubts over the U.S. and Iran arriving at a lasting resolution to the war anytime soon.Meanwhile, the CPI report came in exactly in line with expectations. Consumer prices rose 0.1% month over month and 3.4% year over year, down from 3.5% in June, while core CPI rose 0.2% monthly and 2.5% annually. The combination of softer employment and contained core inflation could strengthen the case for eventual easing.
