Tarsus Enters Agreement to Acquire Alkeus for Approximately $450 Million
Tarsus Pharmaceuticals announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Alkeus Pharmaceuticals, a privately held retinal disease-focused biotechnology company developing gildeuretinol, an investigational once-daily oral therapy for Stargardt disease. Upfront consideration is approximately $450M, consisting of $270M in cash and $180M in Tarsus common stock. Milestones are up to $350M upon potential regulatory approval and first commercial sale. Royalties are low single digit tiered descending royalties as a percentage of gildeuretinol net sales. The Tarsus common stock to be issued to the Alkeus stockholders at closing of the acquisition will be priced at $61.38 per share. The pending transaction is expected to close in 2026.
RxSight Appoints Aziz Mottiwala as New CEO
RxSight (RXST) announced a planned leadership transition effective July 20, with Aziz Mottiwala appointed president and CEO, succeeding Ron Kurtz, who will continue to serve as chief medical officer. Mottiwala most recently served as chief commercial officer at Tarsus Pharmaceuticals (TARS). In connection with this transition, Kurtz will resign from the board of directors, at which time Mottiwala will be appointed to the board. The company is not updating its previously communicated financial guidance in connection with this announcement.

Tarsus Pharmaceuticals announced that Aziz Mottiwala, chief commercial officer, is departing the company to pursue a new opportunity as CEO of a public medical device company. Effective immediately, Neera Clase, formerly senior VP of market access, will serve as interim chief commercial officer while Tarsus conducts a search for a permanent successor.

Tarsus Pharmaceuticals announced the acquisition of iRenix Medical. Upfront consideration is approximately $75M, consisting of $37.5M in cash and $37.5M in Tarsus common stock. Potential approval and commercial milestone payments are up to $490M.
