Anthropic Signs $9.1B Data Center Deal with Riot
Catch up on the top artificial intelligence news and commentary by Wall Street analysts on publicly traded companies in the space with this daily recap compiled by The Fly.COMPUTING DEAL:Anthropic has signed a $9.1B, 191MW data-center capacity deal with Riot Platformsthrough June 2048, with an extension option that could raise total contract value to $16.1B, Bloomberg's Shirin Ghaffary, citing people familiar with the matter. Riot disclosed on Monday that it had secured a 20-year deal to supply 191 megawatts of capacity from its Rockdale, Texas, campus to a "leading frontier AI" company, and sources say that company is Anthropic.MULTI-YEAR STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP:Quantinuumand Oracleannounced a multi-year strategic partnership to bring quantum computing to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. Under the partnership, OCI customers will be able to directly access Quantinuum's Helios, the most accurate commercial quantum computer in the world, through OCI's quantum service, alongside OCI's high-performance computing and GPU infrastructure. Together, Quantinuum and Oracle plan to explore how hybrid quantum-AI infrastructure could address some of the most computationally intensive challenges facing enterprises and broaden access for universities and research institutions advancing scientific discovery and education. The partnership reflects a shared vision that the future of enterprise computing will be built on the convergence of AI, classical supercomputing, and quantum computing. Many complex problems across materials discovery, drug development, logistics, energy, and financial modeling already push the limits of today's computing architectures.DAYBREAK:OpenAIthat, "Earlier this year, OpenAI frontier models and Codex became generally available on AWS, giving enterprises a new path to bring advanced AI into production. Today, we're sharing the next step in our work with AWS: making Daybreak capabilities available through Amazon Bedrock. With Daybreak Access, defenders can use frontier cyber models within their existing AWS environments. Daybreak Blue and Daybreak Red access levels are both available in AWS: Daybreak Blue provides access to frontier general-purpose models, including GPT-5.6 Sol, with safeguards tailored to authorized defensive security work. Daybreak Red provides access to our purpose-trained cybersecurity models for authorized vulnerability research, exploit validation, and security testing. These models help accelerate vulnerability research, detection engineering, and incident response, from initial discovery through a validated fix. They also support complex workflows such as exploit reproduction and mitigation development."AI CLOUD DEALS:In ato shareholders, Nebiusfounder and CEO Arkady Volozh said that the company closed its largest AI Cloud deals on the strongest terms to date, "at prices that represent a step-change in the economics of our business." The company added that new pricing initiatives in early Q3 "such as our first-ever auction and short-term capacity deals - are showing promise. We see a price opportunity in the $40-50 million per MW range and we signed our first one this week. Overall deal economics strengthened, with 70% of deals including prepayments, covering 50-60% of the associated capex. Together, the expected payback period for the associated capex and related operating costs for Q2 deals is 1 year and 10 months, down from our two-to-three year payback period previously. We could sell our entire 2027 capacity on these terms today. We are deliberately not doing so because we see higher value in retaining some capacity for immediate customer needs."REPLACING LEGACY TOOLS:The Department of Agriculture has tapped C3 AIas it aims to replace costly legacy tools, The Information's Laura Bratton. C3's correspondence management software helped the agency use AI to sort through and respond to a backlog of roughly 2,000 unanswered in just two months.

Stock Futures Modestly Higher as Investors Await CPI Report
Stock futures are modestly higher as investors look ahead to Wednesday's July consumer-price report, while developments surrounding the Strait of Hormuz continue to drive oil and inflation expectations. Progress in talks between Iran and Oman over maritime activity has helped pull oil prices lower after Brent briefly approached $90 a barrel amid the latest U.S.-Iran tensions. The July CPI report is a catalyst this week, with economists surveyed by Reuters expecting headline inflation to rise 3.4% year over year and core CPI to increase 2.5%. The report will be particularly important following last week's unexpectedly weak July jobs report, which showed payrolls falling by 23,000 and prompted markets to sharply reduce expectations for a September Fed rate hike. A hotter-than-expected CPI reading could push those expectations back in the opposite direction. The market is also continuing to digest a strong earnings season and the durability of the AI investment cycle. Super Micro Computer and CoreWeave are scheduled to report after the close, giving investors another opportunity to assess demand for AI infrastructure and whether spending levels remain sustainable. In pre-market trading, S&P 500 futures rose 0.16%, Nasdaq futures rose 0.37% and Dow futures rose 0.08%.Check out this morning's top movers from around Wall Street, compiled by The Fly.HIGHER -ACV Auctionsup 13% after Bloombergthe company is exploring strategic alternatives, including a potential sale or strategic partnershipFirst Solarup 3% after Baird initiated coverage of the stock with an Outperform rating and a price target of $318UP AFTER EARNINGS -Babcock & Wilcoxup 34%Riot Platformsup 17%Alconup 3%Cardinal Healthup 1%DOWN AFTER EARNINGS -Life360down 27%Upworkdown 16%On Holdingdown 13%Hims & Hersdown 6%Rocket Labdown 4%LOWER -Inteldown 1% after increasing the size of its share sale to $20B in common stock from $15B
Babcock & Wilcox Enterprises Shares Up 39.5%
Equity futures are little changed in the opening hour of the evening session as narrow trading ranges established late last week persisted on Monday. Traders continue to balance the narrative of clouded visibility regarding the prospects of a sustainable U.S.-Iran war resolution and the ability of broader indices to offset the increasingly vulnerable rally in Semiconductors with strength in other areas. Infrastructure and SaaS names balanced out the weakness in Semis - including Nvidia's3% drop - on Monday. Energy and Healthcare have also traded higher, while Tech, Utilities, and Real Estate lagged in the S&P 500.Fixed income markets continue to command plenty of attention heading into this Wednesday's key CPI data. The brief retreat in Treasury yields following the soft employment report on Friday was briskly reversed on Monday due to oil price spillover concerns on broader inflation, with the 10-year now pushing back to the 4.7% level. Probabilities implied by the swaps market have also reset the dial for expectations of a 25 basis point hike at the next FOMC meeting in September back above 50%.Check out this evening's top movers from around Wall Street, compiled by The Fly.HIGHER AFTER EARNINGS -Babcock & Wilcox Enterprisesup 39.5%NIQ Global Intelligenceup 17.4%Riot Platformsup 10.9%Alconup 5.9%ALSO HIGHER -Fermiup 20.4% after announcing TensorWave lease agreementEverpureup 7.3% after announcing a hyperscaler design winDOWN AFTER EARNINGS -Life360down 28.2%Upworkdown 19.3%USA Rare Earthdown 9.4%Hims & Hers Healthdown 6.5%Rocket Labdown 6.4%GoProdown 5.4%
