Jack in the Box Appoints Taylor Montgomery as President
Jack in the Box (JACK) announced its Board of Directors has appointed Taylor Montgomery as President, effective September 14, 2026. In this newly created role, Montgomery will lead Jack in the Box's brand strategy, with a focus on driving sustainable sales growth, improving franchisee profitability, and positioning the Company for long-term success. Montgomery most recently served as Global Chief Brand Officer at Taco Bell, part of Yum! Brands (YUM)
Stock Futures Modestly Higher, Cerebras Systems Down 15%
Stock futures are modestly higher as investors digest softer-than-feared Producer Price Index data that follows yesterday's July CPI report.The Fed outlook has become somewhat more favorable for equities following the inflation data and the weak July employment report. Markets are now pricing roughly a 66% probability that the Fed holds rates steady at its next meeting, according to Reuters.Technology and AI infrastructure stocks remain an important source of strength. At the same time, Cerebras Systems is under pressure after its results missed expectations, highlighting how high expectations have become for companies tied to the AI buildout.Oil prices are providing some relief after six consecutive sessions of gains. Index futures are mixed in the opening hours of the evening session, with S&P e-minis flat, Dow Industrials up marginally, and Nasdaq 100 contract down by 0.2%. Softer than expected inflation data compressed yields and helped to propel the AI trade on Wednesday with many of this year's winners in Semiconductors, Semi Equipment, Memory, and Hardware leading the charge. The momentum of that exuberance could be fleeting however after post-earnings selloffs in some of the larger AI-themed stocks - Cisco slid 4% while Cerebras Systems retreated 16% afterhours.In commodities, WTI Crude Oil has continued to consolidate this month's advance with a 1% decline below $82.70. Jack in the Box Reports Q3 Revenue of $257.7M
Reports Q3 revenue $257.7M, consensus $264.59M. Same-store sales declined 1.1% in the third quarter, comprised of franchise same-store sales decline of 1.2% and company-owned same-store sales decline of 0.9%. Sales performance resulted primarily from a decline in transactions, partially offset by an increase in price. Systemwide sales for the third quarter decreased 1.4%. "During my first months as interim CEO, I've spent significant time listening to our franchisees, meeting with our teams, and gaining a deeper understanding of the Jack in the Box business. With our refinancing now complete, we're fully focused on improving restaurant performance and executing against the priorities that will create the greatest long-term value.
