Barclays Notes NY Attorney General Investigating Compass Market Share
Barclays notes the media report suggesting that New York's Attorney General may be investigating Compass' market share in the state following the completion of the acquisition of Anywhere Real Estate with associated "antitrust concerns." With the stock down 11%, the firm calls the move "punitive" and views this as a buying opportunity for "a stock where we see meaningful upside potential," the analyst tells investors. Barclays has an Overweight rating on Compass shares.

Compass Completes Acquisition of Anywhere Real Estate
Compass (COMP) closed its acquisition of Anywhere Real Estate (HOUS) after leadership at the Justice Department overruled staff concerns that the deal could hurt competition, Leah Nylen and Alexandra Levine of Bloomberg report, citing people familiar with the matter. The Justice Department's antitrust staff had recommended an investigation of the combination but were blocked by senior Trump administration officials, sources told Bloomberg.
Compass and Anywhere Real Estate Merger Approved by Shareholders
Compass (COMP) and Anywhere Real Estate (HOUS) announce that stockholders of each company voted overwhelmingly to approve and adopt, as applicable, all proposals related to the previously announced merger of Compass and Anywhere at their respective special meetings of stockholders held on January 7. The merger is expected to close on January 9, subject to the satisfaction of customary closing conditions.
