Q4 Revenue of $591M Misses Consensus of $605.1M

Reports Q4 revenue $591.0M, consensus $605.1M. "Order activity improved in Q4 despite tariff uncertainty in our North America markets, particularly in tank cars, triggering delays in long-lived railcar investment decisions," said CEO Lorie Tekorius. "The first sequential increase in backlog since fiscal 2024 represents a pivot by freight shippers toward moving goods by rail in North America. Our lease fleet grew by 23% to nearly 21,000 railcars at year end, with utilization of 98%, further establishing a recurring revenue base supporting results across market conditions and industry cycles. Rail traffic increases and elevated diesel prices have boosted inquiries in North America early in fiscal 2027, as freight shippers seek increased access to rail. Our focus on operational execution, cost management and disciplined growth of the lease fleet continues. Advancing these priorities will improve through-cycle performance and drive long-term shareholder value."

Greenbrier Companies Strongly Disagrees with UTLX Allegations

The company states: "The Greenbrier Companies strongly disagrees with allegations made in petitions filed by UTLX Manufacturing LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway, Inc., seeking antidumping and countervailing duties on certain railway tank cars and parts. Greenbrier will vigorously defend its record before the U.S. Department of Commerce and the U.S. International Trade Commission. The petitions are not supported by the facts or the law. Greenbrier rejects the false suggestion that it abandoned U.S. tank car production or American workers. Greenbrier operates a purpose-built tank car manufacturing facility in Marmaduke, Arkansas, where American employees build tank cars today. In fact, the petition itself identifies Greenbrier as a U.S. producer and acknowledges Greenbrier's domestic tank car production in 2025. Greenbrier also rejects allegations that its tank cars are unfairly priced or subsidized. Greenbrier competes on safety, quality, innovation, productivity and customer value. Its tank cars are built to rigorous U.S. Department of Transportation and Association of American Railroads (AAR) standards, everywhere they are manufactured, including our AAR-certified site in Arkansas. In fact, Greenbrier purchases tons of steel annually from U.S. foundries as the primary input into the tank cars that UTLX alleges to be dumped and subsidized."
