Perplexity Opens SPACE AI Sandbox, Cybersecurity Stocks Drop
Shares of cybersecurity companies are moving lower after Semafor's Reed Albergotti reported that Perplexity is giving away SPACE, its AI sandbox used to combat rogue AI agents. SPACE is now an open source project, allowing outside developers to use the tool, and Perplexity has lined up CoreWeave (CRWV), Akamai (AKAM), and Crusoe to offer SPACE to customers, according to the report. Other companies like Nvidia (NVDA) have also released open-source security tools, such as Nvidia OpenShell, which runs AI agents in a sandbox and limits what they can reach, Albergotti says. Publicly traded companies in the space include Check Point (CHKP), CrowdStrike (CRWD), CyberArk (CYBR), F5 (FFIV), Fortinet (FTNT), Gen Digital (GEN), Okta (OKTA), Palo Alto Networks (PANW) and Qualys (QLYS).
F5 Introduces Enhanced Cloud-Native Network Functions
F5 announced enhanced cloud-native network functions and new observability capabilities that help service providers modernize critical network services as they move from virtualized infrastructure to Kubernetes and cloud-native architectures. Service providers are under pressure to support growing 5G, edge, IT, and emerging AI workloads, boost efficiency, and maintain the performance, security, and operational control required for carrier-grade services. Moving network functions to Kubernetes lets operators use infrastructure more flexibly but also introduces additional requirements for traffic management, security, lifecycle operations, and visibility across increasingly distributed environments. F5 now accelerates this transition.
F5 Announces Strategic Partnership with Omnissa
F5 announced a strategic partnership with Omnissa to help enterprises build secure, resilient, and scalable virtual desktop and application delivery architectures. "Securing and optimizing digital workspaces in today's hybrid, multicloud enterprise demands seamless interoperability across identity, security, and application traffic management," said John Maddison, Chief Marketing Officer, F5. "Our strategic alignment with Omnissa helps organizations reduce single points of failure, simplify DMZ architectures, and deliver an exceptional employee experience supported by Zero Trust security."
F5 Enhances Distributed Cloud Bot Defense Features
F5 announced enhancements to F5 Distributed Cloud Bot Defense, introducing new device intelligence capabilities and specialized agentic AI protections. Together, these capabilities bring persistent device context and continuous risk decisioning to application security, giving organizations the real-time agent management designed to help welcome trusted digital interaction while helping stop automated fraud and abuse.
F5 Launches Agentless Workforce AI Security Solution
F5 announced the upcoming availability of F5 Workforce AI Security, a new agentless offering within the F5 AI Security Platform that gives organizations visibility and policy control across workforce AI activity. "Employees aren't just asking AI questions anymore. They're handing work to AI agents that can reach into enterprise systems, call tools, and change data on their behalf," said Kunal Anand, Chief Product Officer at F5. "Workforce AI Security applies intent-based guardrails in the network path to understand the context of AI interactions and enforce policy before risky actions occur. With this addition, the F5 AI Security Platform gives organizations one set of controls across how their workforce uses AI and how they build and deploy AI, wherever it runs."
