Bank of New York Mellon Appoints Independent Director Vikram Malhotra
The Bank of New York Mellon Corporation announced that its Board of Directors has elected Vikram "Vik" Malhotra as an independent director, effective October 1, 2026. With the addition of Malhotra, BNY's Board of Directors will have 12 directors, 11 of whom are independent.
Galaxy Digital Partners with BNY for Digital Asset Infrastructure
Galaxy Digital (GLXY) announced a strategic collaboration with BNY (BNY) to further advance digital asset infrastructure for institutional markets, including support for staking, a process that allows eligible digital assets to earn rewards, on BNY's Digital Asset Custody platform. This will bring together Digital Asset Custody and staking within a single institutional servicing model. The combination of BNY's Digital Asset Custody platform with Galaxy's expertise in proof-of-stake network aims to provide clients with an integrated, institutional-grade experience for participating in staking through a secure, streamlined workflow. In addition to staking, Galaxy is serving as a design partner to further BNY digital asset platform infrastructure. BNY's offering of staking and related infrastructure enhancements are subject to regulatory review.
BNY Mellon Q2 Earnings Call Outlook Cautious
On the company's Q2 earnings call, BNY Mellon executives stated: "In our updated guides, we have given a range and we have kind of taken a conservative bias to it because that is how we set up and run the company through the year, through the cycle, durable revenues. I think Q3 specifically as it relates to NII and deposits, year over year, will be a tough comp because we expect a seasonally slow quarter due to the seasonal slowdown. Last year, that did not happen due to several idiosyncratic events. The setup for the third quarter will be pretty good in terms of NII, but last year's quarter is tough to beat."
BNY Reports Q2 Revenue of $5.7B, Beating Expectations

The company said, "In a dynamic market, BNY delivered another strong quarter with robust organic growth, once again demonstrating BNY's position at the heart of the world's capital markets. Enabled by our new commercial and platform operating models, our people are coming together to support our clients and deliver strong financial performance. We grew revenue by 13% year-over-year to a record $5.7 billion and generated 600 basis points of positive operating leverage, a pre-tax margin of 40% and an ROTCE of 31%. Growth was broad-based across Securities Services, Market and Wealth Services and Investment and Wealth Management, reflecting healthy client activity as well as the impact of our continuous investments and strategic actions to enable differentiated solutions for our clients. We also achieved another quarter of record sales. Halfway through the year, our performance underscores BNY's strong momentum, and our teams around the world remain focused on delivering more for our clients and shareholders."
