Allogene Therapeutics Receives FDA RMAT and Fast Track Designations
Allogene Therapeutics announced that the FDA has granted Regenerative Medicine Advanced Therapy, or RMAT, and Fast Track designations to cemacabtagene ansegedleucel for the treatment of adult patients with large B-cell lymphoma who, at the completion of first-line therapy, are in complete or partial response suitable for observation but test positive for minimal residual disease. Together, the designations enable more frequent FDA engagement and support an efficient development and review process.
Allogene Publishes Complete Phase 1 Data for ALLO-316
Allogene Therapeutics announced the publication of complete Phase 1 data from the TRAVERSE study of ALLO-316 in advanced or metastatic renal cell carcinoma in the Journal of Clinical Oncology. "TRAVERSE represents a potential breakthrough for both Allogene and the broader CAR T field," said Zachary Roberts, president and CEO of Allogene. "CAR T has transformed hematologic malignancies while solid tumors have remained one of the field's most difficult challenges. When we designed ALLO-316 with the Dagger technology, our goal was to address two of the most persistent barriers in solid tumors - achieving robust CAR T expansion with standard lymphodepletion and translating that biology into durable responses. These results show that a well-designed allogeneic CAR T product, developed for a defined population, can expand, persist, and produce durable responses in metastatic, treatment refractory solid tumors. Importantly, the robust CAR T expansion and durable persistence in this trial provides clinical validation of our Dagger technology platform and has direct read-through to our broader clinical and preclinical pipeline of next-generation AlloCAR T candidates."
Allogene Therapeutics Announces CEO Transition to Zachary Roberts
Allogene Therapeutics announced that Dr. David Chang, M.D., Ph.D., will transition from his role as President and CEO, effective June 30, following eight years of leadership that established Allogene as a leader in the development of off-the-shelf cell therapies. Dr. Chang will continue to serve on the company's Board of Directors. The company's Board of Directors has unanimously elected Zachary Roberts, M.D., Ph.D., currently Executive Vice President, Research & Development and Chief Medical Officer, to succeed Dr. Chang as President and CEO, effective July 1. He will also be appointed to the Board of Directors effective the same date. Since his appointment in January 2023, Dr. Roberts has reshaped Allogene's clinical development strategy, driving advances across the company's pipeline, including the design and execution of the company's pivotal ALPHA3 trial in first line consolidation large B-cell lymphoma.
