Archer Aviation Plans Three Air Taxi Networks in Texas
Archer Aviation revealed plans for three air taxi networks serving Austin, Dallas-Fort Worth and Houston with the goal of increasing connectivity between major airports, business districts, and coastal destinations in the fastest growing megaregion in the United States. The Texas Triangle is home to more than 20 million people and several of the fastest-growing metropolitan areas in the country. Commuters in Houston, Dallas-Fort Worth and Austin lose days each year sitting in traffic, with congestion costing the state billions in lost time, productivity, and infrastructure costs. Archer's planned air taxi networks in the state are designed to give Texans an option to skip over traffic on its all-electric Midnight air taxi, turning 60-90 minute drives to major airports, business districts and major destinations into 10-20 minute flights. Archer's planned network in Dallas-Fort Worth will connect major airports including Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, Dallas Love Field, Addison Airport, Arlington Municipal Airport, Fort Worth Meacham International Airport and Perot Field Fort Worth Alliance Airport with major business hubs like Frisco Station. The 242-acre mixed-use development surrounds The Star, the Dallas Cowboys' world headquarters, and features Class AA office space, residential communities, hotels and a growing Health and Wellness district. In Houston, home to some of the nation's worst congestion, Archer's planned air taxi network will link the city's major airports like George Bush Intercontinental Airport, William P. Hobby Airport, and Sugar Land Regional Airport, with the Thompson Hotel Helipad downtown and Galveston, turning the hour-plus drive from the city's core to the coast into a short flight. Austin's planned network will connect the city's major airports like Austin-Bergstrom International Airport and Austin Executive Airport with the F1 Circuit Helipad at the Circuit of The Americas - making F1 Grand Prix races minutes away for Texans and visitors.
Archer Aviation Completes Test Flights of All-Electric Air Taxi
Archer Aviation announced that its all-electric Midnight air taxi completed several days of piloted flights in the Bay Area as part of the company's 'No Roads' flight tour. The flights included multiple trips around the San Francisco Bay, taking off and landing at Oakland International Airport.
Archer Aviation Completes HSR Waiting Period
Archer Aviation announced the expiration of the waiting period under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act of 1976, as amended, with respect to the previously announced agreements pursuant to which Archer will acquire Boeing's Wisk Aero, SkyGrid and Insitu subsidiaries. The expiration of the HSR Act waiting period occurred at 11:59 p.m. EDT on September 18. The expiration of the HSR Act waiting period satisfies a key condition to closing the transaction. Completion of the transaction remains subject to the satisfaction or waiver of other customary closing conditions, including receipt of certain other regulatory approvals, which are underway. The transaction is expected to close by the end of 2026. The transaction is set to create an end-to-end physical AI platform for aerospace and defense, combining Wisk, Insitu and SkyGrid's pioneering autonomy, electric vertical take off and landing aircraft, unmanned aircraft systems and airspace intelligence technologies with Archer's product suite and leading purpose-built AI foundation model, ZEE.
America's Consortium for Electric Skyways Supports Texas Air Taxi Program
America's Consortium for Electric Skyways, ACES, announced plans to support Texas' air taxi operations under the White House's eVTOL Integration Pilot Program, eIPP, by expanding interoperable electric aviation charging infrastructure in the state across key locations like airports, FBOs and other points of interest. "Texas is preparing the way for America to lead the world in commercializing the next generation of aviation technologies, and infrastructure is how that push becomes real," said Adam Goldstein, Founder and CEO of Archer Aviation. "ACES plans to put interoperable chargers where eIPP operations will take place, built on an open standard the whole industry can use. That's the foundation Texas needs to set the region up for passenger air taxi flights across the Texas Triangle as part of the final phase of the Texas eIPP pilot. "
Archer Aviation Completes First City-to-City Roundtrip Flight
Archer Aviation announced the completion of Midnight's city-to-city roundtrip flight between Salinas and Hollister, CA - the first stop on the company's 'No Roads' flight tour. Midnight completed the round trip between Salinas Municipal Airport and Hollister Municipal Airport in roughly 12 minutes each way, which by comparison can each take 40 minutes or more by car. The all-electric aircraft reached speeds of 125 mph, cruised at 3,550 feet, and covered over 40 miles roundtrip.
