Twist Bioscience Partners with Eli Lilly to Advance Antibody Drug Development

Twist Bioscience Corporation (TWST) announced an agreement with Lilly TuneLab, a collaborative AI/ML drug discovery platform created by Eli Lilly and Company (LLY). Twist is a provider of antibody characterization data services for TuneLab, including for AbLab, an antibody developability prediction model. TuneLab was created to accelerate biotech innovation by enabling participating companies to access AI/ML drug discovery models trained on decades of Lilly's proprietary research data. Participating companies may use the TuneLab prediction models to more rapidly down-select candidate molecules. Through this agreement, users will be able to order antibody services from Twist using TuneLab preferred Twist protocols to generate high-quality wet lab data. This approach connects experimental data with AI-enabled discovery, allowing researchers to potentially accelerate antibody drug discovery.

Twist CEO Discusses Collaboration with Anthropic

Emily Leproust, the co-founder and CEO of Twist, was asked while presenting at the Baird Global Healthcare Conference about Twist having recently been named an independent evaluator chosen to produce AI-designed proteins for Anthropic at scale. When asked to talk a little bit more about that relationship, Leproust replied in part: "We have a careful, because we have a very strong NDA with Anthropic, so we have to let them speak. We can comment on what they published, and what they publish was kind of like a pilot, right? It is a taste of what is possible. They pick some targets, and they design mini binders. Mini binders are not protein, but they design thousands of mini binders, and they wanted someone to test the binding of those mini binders against those targets. We were able to make the DNA, make the protein, express the protein, and do the SPR data, and that blog reports the SPR data." When asked as a follow-up if that Anthropic work was already inside of the company's expectations for fiscal 2027 orders, Leproust replied that it was "Probably sort of included" as of last guidance.
