Angel Oak Reports Q2 2026 Net Interest Income of $10.7 Million
Q2 2026 net interest income of $10.7 million, an increase of 8% versus Q2 2025 net interest income of $9.9 million. Q2 2026 GAAP book value of $10.13 per share and economic book value of $12.24 per share, decreases of 1.7% and 0.3%, respectively, compared to the first quarter of 2026. Sreeni Prabhu, Chief Executive Officer and President of Angel Oak Mortgage REIT, Inc., said, "Our second quarter results demonstrated resilience amid an uncertain macroeconomic environment, highlighted by year-to-date growth of 21% in interest income and 14% in net interest income. Importantly, these results were supported by decisive actions we took during the quarter to strengthen the return profile, liquidity, and long-term durability of our portfolio. We monetized delevered retained bonds from a legacy securitization and redeployed that capital into higher-yielding newly originated loans, repurchased approximately $15 million of common stock from a pre-IPO investor at accretive levels, and secured additional spread reductions on our largest warehouse financing facility. Together, these opportunistic, prudent, and value-oriented actions demonstrate the discipline of our approach and the differentiated strengths of the Angel Oak platform. Looking ahead, we remain focused on the factors within our control: maintaining disciplined credit, expanding earnings, and staying active in the securitization market."
Angel Oak Mortgage Q1 2026 Net Interest Income Reaches $12.1 Million
Q1 2026 net interest income of $12.1 million demonstrates an increase of 20.1% versus Q1 2025 net interest income of $10.1 million and an increase of 11.2% versus Q4 2025 net interest income of $10.9 million. Q1 2026 GAAP book value of $10.31 per share and economic book value of $12.28 per share, decreases of 4.0% and 3.3%, respectively, compared to the end of 2025. Sreeni Prabhu, Chief Executive Officer and President of Angel Oak Mortgage REIT, Inc., said, "The first quarter showcased our earnings engine in a variable macro environment, marking approximately 20% net interest income growth compared to the first quarter of 2025 and over 11% net interest income growth compared to the fourth quarter of 2025. In early March, we executed a $272 million securitization, taking advantage of favorable market conditions prior to spread-widening associated with the onset of geopolitical conflict in the Middle East and underscoring the benefits of our methodical, repeatable approach." Prabhu continued, "Looking ahead, we will continue to focus on what we can control, maintaining disciplined credit, expanding earnings, and consistent securitization market activity."
Chimera deal valuation supportive of other mortgage REITs, says BTIG
BTIG analyst Eric Hagen reiterated a Neutral rating on Chimera (CIM) after the company agreed to acquire HomeXpress Mortgage for $120M in cash and 2.1M shares of stock. The firm said the deal makes Chimera a little more interesting given the range of earnings upside it could supply if non-qualified mortgage origination hits a meaningful growth spurt. BTIG added that it believes the deal valuation is supportive of the other mortgage REITs with non-QM lending/aggregation businesses, including Angele Oak (AOMR), Ellington (EFC), Rithm (RITM), and AG Mortgage (MITT). The firm has Buy ratings on Angel Oak, Ellington, and Rithm, and is Neutral on AG Mortgage.
Angel Oak Mortgage REIT reports Q1 distributable EPS 17c, consensus 27c
Reports Q1 economic book value per share $13.41. Sreeni Prabhu, CEO and president of Angel Oak Mortgage REIT, Inc., said, "We are proud to have achieved continued net interest income expansion in the first quarter of this year, marking approximately 18% growth compared to the first quarter of 2024 and over 2% growth compared to the fourth quarter of 2024. Our earnings growth was buoyed by the acquisition of nearly $260 million of high-quality non-QM loan purchases throughout the first quarter along with continued maintenance of our operating expense savings. Despite recent volatility caused by broad uncertainty around tariffs, we look to continue expanding earnings through additional loan purchases with the capital made available by our post-quarter end securitization. And, as always, we will remain committed to growing long-term shareholder value through disciplined risk management, securitization execution, and strategic capital deployment."
