With important data readouts expected in DM1 and FSHD, continued progress across our broader pipeline, and a talented team dedicated to transforming the lives of patients with rare diseases, we have significant opportunities ahead and remain committed to delivering sustainable long-term value. Our priorities are clear: execute our commercial strategy, advance our promising siRNA pipeline, and continue allocating capital with discipline. With a strong balance sheet, an innovative pipeline, and an experienced leadership team, I believe Sarepta is well positioned to deliver on its long-term potential."
Morgan Stanley Notes Sarepta's New CEO Appointment
Morgan Stanley notes that Sarepta announced the appointment of Michael Severino as CEO succeeding Doug Ingram, who will remain in an advisory role through year-end 2026. The CEO transition comes before an eventful second half of 2026 and 2027 with key catalysts ahead, including data from Elevidys in non-ambulatory Duchenne muscular dystrophy patients by year-end 2026 that could support its return to market in this population, MAD data from the siRNA programs in DM1 and FSHD, the FDA's February 2027 decisions on the continued approval of exon-skipping therapies Amondys 45 and Vyondys 53 and Huntington's disease proof of biology data in the first half of 2027. Overall, the firm views clarity on the CEO transition as a positive, but remains cautious near term given challenges in the DMD business and await more data from the siRNA pipeline expected later this year. Morgan Stanley has an Equal Weight rating on the shares with a price target of $25.
Sarepta Therapeutics Appoints Michael Severino as CEO
Sarepta Therapeutics announced the appointment of Michael Severino, M.D., as chief executive officer, effective July 28, 2026. Severino, who was previously CEO of Tessera Therapeutics, will also join Sarepta's Board of Directors. Severino succeeds Doug Ingram, who is retiring and will serve the company in an advisory capacity until the end of 2026 to ensure a smooth transition.
Sarepta Therapeutics' Drug Applications Accepted by FDA
Sarepta Therapeutics announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has accepted for filing the supplemental New Drug Applications for AMONDYS 45 and VYONDYS 53 for the treatment of Duchenne muscular dystrophy. The FDA has assigned a Prescription Drug User Fee Act target action data of February 28, 2027. The sNDA submissions seek conversion of the accelerated approvals of AMONDYS 45 and VYONDYS 53 to traditional approvals. The applications are supported by data from the ESSENCE confirmatory study, as well as substantial published real-world evidence and the favorable and consistent safety profiles of both exon-skipping therapies.
