S&P 500 Ends Three-Day Gain as 10-Year Treasury Yield Hits New High
S&P 500 broke a string of three consecutive gaining sessions, backing away from yesterday's record highs. Investors took greater caution as the yield on the 10-year Treasury note hit a fresh 24-year high of 5.36% before relatively strong demand in today's 10-year auction drove that rate back down to 5.28%, driving some relief into the equity space.Healthcare was the best-performing sector in the S&P 500 on Wednesday while Basic Materials and Industrials were the two worst areas of the market. Precious metals stocks were also weighed down by multi-week lows in Gold and Silver prices. Tech was mixed again, with profit-taking among some of the biggest cybersecurity names that had seen record highs overnight, as Palo Alto Networksfell 3% and CrowdStrikefell 5% . Computer hardware names were generally higher however, paced by 4% gains in Everpure. Also of note, Micronrebounded to post 4% gains after opening the day 3% lower due to labor action in Taiwan.Check out this evening's top movers from around Wall Street, compiled by The Fly.HIGHER AFTER EARNINGS -Applied Digitalup 4.1%Richardson Electronicsup 1.8%ALSO HIGHER -Wolfspeedup 20.8% after announcing a $1.5B 30-year loan from Department of WarvTv Therapeuticsup 5.5% after securing Orphan Drug Designation for HPPDLattice Semiconductorup 2.0% after announcing Arm collaboration on AI data center infrastructureDOWN AFTER EARNINGS -Resources Connectiondown 12.6%Levi Straussdown 1.6%ALSO LOWER -MicroVision.down 7.2% after FY26 outlookONE Gasdown 1.4% after downgrade to Hold at JefferiesCostco Wholesaledown 0.3% after September SSS data

HP Announces Pricing and Availability for RTX Spark
HP Inc. (HPQ) announced pricing and availability for HP's RTX Spark Windows portfolio, the introduction of Perplexity experiences on select consumer platforms, and the first public demonstration of Windows running on the HP ZGX Fury powered by the Nvidia (NVDA) GB300 Grace Blackwell Ultra Desktop Superchip. "At Microsoft's event earlier today, Microsoft's Satya Nadella and NVIDIA's Jensen Huang showcased the first public demonstration of Windows running on the HP ZGX Fury powered by the NVIDIA GB300 Grace Blackwell Ultra Desktop Superchip, highlighting a new class of AI workstation designed for developers, data scientists, researchers, and enterprise teams building and deploying advanced AI applications. The demonstration builds on HP's GB300 vision first previewed earlier this year at Computex and underscores HP's commitment to bringing powerful AI development capabilities to the Windows ecosystem. The HP ZGX Fury is designed to help organizations develop, test, and deploy increasingly sophisticated AI applications on-premises, closer to their users, data, and workflows. Its powerful capabilities enable enterprise teams to run demanding inference workloads, support more concurrent users and AI calls, and experiment with larger or more complex models - all while maintaining greater control over their AI infrastructure," HP stated. The HP OmniBook Ultra 16 is expected to be available at HP.com on October 16, for a starting price of $3,199.99. The device will also be available at Best Buy locations. The HP OmniBook X 14 is expected to be available at HP.com on October 16, for a starting price of $2,999.99. The device is also expected to be available at Costco.com, Micro Center, Walmart, and other U.S. retailers. Perplexity Pro will be offered as a one-month free trial on eligible HP consumer devices beginning in November, with availability expanding to both new and existing devices, HP added.
Major Averages Rise as Oil Prices Retreat
The major averages advanced on Friday as easing oil prices and retreating Treasury yields provided relief at the end of a volatile week. Oil and fuel prices pulled back during the session following news that the U.S. and Iran moved closer to an agreement that would lift naval blockades on tankers in the Persian Gulf and ease economic measures against Tehran. Of note, Meta pulled back today, but still closed the week with a gain of over 10% as it followed up on its recent Muse AI agent launch with a series of hardware releases.Get caught up quickly on the top news and calls moving stocks with these five Top Five lists.1.
