Nasdaq Hits Record High Driven by AI Stocks Surge
The major averages started the week sharply higher, with the rise in AI-related stocks driving the tech-dominant Nasdaq Composite to record high on a 2.3% surge. Within the benchmark S&P 500, Communication Services sector was the best-performing sector, paced by outsized 11% gains at Metato its best levels of the year amid strong adoption of its Muse AI agent. Semiconductors was also one of the best-performing industries within the Technology sector, while Airlines were lifted by another steep decline in oil prices. Energy was predictably the worst-performing sector benchmark, as WTI Crude Oil continued to retreat to $92 per barrel.In the opening hour of the evening session, index futures are anticipating more strength in tech, with Nasdaq 100 contract up 0.2%.
