Ascent Solar's Solar Products Show Zero Power Loss in Space Testing

Ascent Solar announced positive results from its preliminary atomic oxygen exposure testing for its space-grade thin-film photovoltaic products. In tests simulating six months of exposure at the altitude of the International Space Station, the company's thin-film products demonstrated zero loss of power. Ascent plans to proceed with additional advanced exposure testing simulating longer mission durations in Low-Earth Orbit. "These positive results represent yet another critical value proposition of our PV technology, enabling spacecraft operators to endure the punishing conditions of space," said Paul Warley, CEO of Ascent Solar.

Ascent Solar Successfully Integrates Solar Blankets with NOVI's Pathfinder

Ascent Solar Technologies announced that its previously delivered solar blankets have been successfully integrated into NOVI's Pathfinder spacecraft, scheduled to fly on a SpaceX Falcon 9 Transporter launch no earlier than March 29th. "Our partnership with NOVI has evolved quickly over the last year. In large part due to our rapid manufacturing capabilities in a domestic facility, enabling Ascent to quickly supply product to customers looking for immediate solutions," said Paul Warley, CEO of Ascent Solar Technologies. "Through this partnership with NOVI, we're achieving lower costs on faster timelines, driving major reductions in mass and volume compared to traditional silicon solar arrays. Our solutions are also more durable and sustainable, which reduces space debris risks while improving efficiency for spacecraft operators."

Ascent Solar Plans to Continue Development of Distributed Power Receiving Products in 2026

Ascent Solar Technologies announced its plans to continue development of distributed power receiving products in 2026 to account for growing demand for space-based energy beaming technologies. hese development efforts include both internally funded research and development as well as continued Collaborative Agreement Notice program work with the NASA Marshall Spaceflight Center and Glenn Research Center, which is on schedule to successfully conclude this spring. The Company plans to present the results of these development programs at select space industry conferences to be announced later this year. These solar module technology advancements are uniquely enabled by Ascent's in-house manufacturing capabilities at its 5-MW production facility in Thornton, Colorado. The facility allows for the company's commercial-off-the-shelf CIGS PV products to be further optimized in order to be able to receive both sunlight in addition to more distributed power from a number of transmission sources and providers such as Star Catcher Industries. The Company further plans for continued technology progression through partnerships like that with Cislunar Industries that stand to effectively enable spacecraft to generate and utilize multiple times more power with a solar array of any given size.
