Cabot Corporation is a global specialty chemicals and performance materials company. The Company's principal products are reinforcing and specialty carbons, specialty compounds, conductive additives, carbon nanotubes, fumed metal oxides, inkjet colorants and aerogel. It operates through two segments: Reinforcement Materials and Performance Chemicals. Its reinforcing carbon products are used in tires and industrial products. In addition to its reinforcing carbons, it manufactures engineered elastomer composites (E2C) solutions that are composites of reinforcing carbons and rubber made using its patented elastomer composites manufacturing process. Under the Performance Chemicals segment, it designs, manufactures and sells materials that deliver performance in a range of customer applications across the automotive, construction, infrastructure, inkjet printing, electronics, and consumer products sectors and in applications related to the generation, transmission and storage of energy.
Cabot Corp is currently not a strong buy due to recent earnings challenges, despite a positive long-term outlook. The current price is $83.65, with a forward P/E of 10.62, indicating potential value, but the RSI is at 35.51, suggesting the stock is oversold. The main risk is the significant drop in Q3 earnings, with net income falling to $6 million from $101 million last year, which raises concerns about profitability.
