Result Rules
Alberta is scheduled to hold a provincial referendum on October 19, 2026. Question 10 asks: "Should Alberta remain a province in Canada, or should the Government of Alberta commence the legal process required under the Canadian Constitution to hold a binding provincial referendum on whether or not Alberta should separate from Canada?"
For the purposes of this market, "Remain" refers to the option that Alberta should remain a province in Canada, and "Leave" refers to the option that the Government of Alberta should commence the legal process required under the Canadian Constitution to hold a binding provincial referendum on separation.
This market will resolve according to the margin of victory between "Remain" and "Leave" on Question 10.
The “margin of victory” is defined as the absolute difference between the percentages of valid votes received by "Remain" and "Leave". Percentages will be determined by dividing the number of valid votes each option receives by the sum of all valid votes cast on Question 10.
If "Leave" receives more valid votes than "Remain", this market will resolve to "Leave wins".
If the reported value falls exactly between two brackets, then this market will resolve to the higher margin bracket.
If "Remain" and "Leave" receive the exact same number of valid votes, this market will resolve to "Remain <20%".
This market will resolve based on the results of the vote once the count has been made official. If a recount is initiated before the vote total has been made official, the market will remain open until the recount is completed and the vote is made official.
If the referendum is officially rescheduled to a date prior to December 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, the same rule applies to the new ballot and its corresponding deadlines. If the results of the referendum are not known definitively, or no qualifying referendum vote occurs, by December 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to “Other.”
The primary resolution source for this market will be the official results of the vote as published by the Government of Alberta, including Elections Alberta (https://www.elections.ab.ca/); however, an overwhelming consensus of credible reporting may suffice.
AI Valuation Analysis: Finding Market Mispricings & EV Gaps
While human consensus and speculative volume shape the broader prediction market, our quantitative algorithms offer a data-driven counter-perspective. By analyzing fundamental signals, underlying trends and historical distributions, our AI Valuation model calculates an independent “Fair Value” probability for each outcome.
Comparing this Fair Value against the current Trade Value uncovers major disparities — known as the Expected Value (EV) Gap. Contracts with a positive EV Gap represent statistically underpriced outcomes, whereas a negative EV Gap flags a potential market overreaction.
Top AI Alpha & Mispriced Arbitrage Opportunities
Based on the latest data model run, several key contracts stand out with significant deviations:
- The Most Overvalued Outcome Remain 40–60% currently trades at 98.5%, but our AI places its Fair Value at just 83.2%. This creates a large negative EV Gap of -15.3%, suggesting the crowd may be overhyping this outcome and driving the premium too high.
- The Best Value Play (Highest EV) Our model identifies Remain 60–80% as the premium value opportunity on the board. While the market only assigns it a 0.9% trading probability, our AI’s Fair Value assessment sits at 16% — yielding an impressive +15.1% EV Gap.
- Under-the-Radar Dark Horses Other notable discrepancies include Remain 80%+ (EV Gap: +1%) and Remain <20% (EV Gap: +1%). These long-tail opportunities are heavily discounted by the live order books despite stronger statistical backing from our predictive model.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the current market consensus on "Alberta Independence Referendum: Margin of Victory"?
As of the latest update, Remain 40–60% leads the field as the frontrunner with a 98.5% win probability, followed by Remain 60–80% at 0.9% and Remain 20–40% at 0.4%. Total trading volume for this pool has reached $308.4K, indicating deep liquidity and high trader engagement.
How does the AI Fair Value differ from the live Market Trade Value?
The live Market Trade Value reflects public sentiment, order-book momentum and speculative capital. Our AI Fair Value is computed independently with quantitative models that strip out hype to focus on underlying data. When the two diverge, it creates an EV Gap, flagging where the market may be mispricing an outcome.
Which outcome represents the highest Expected Value (EV) right now?
Our latest run flags Remain 60–80% as the most significant mispricing. While the market trades it at a 0.9% implied probability, our AI calculates a Fair Value of 16% — an Expected Value gap of +15.1%, making it the premium value play in this pool.
Is the market consensus overreacting to any specific outcome?
Yes — our data suggests a notable overreaction around Remain 40–60%. The crowd has pushed its live Trade Value up to 98.5%, yet our Fair Value assessment puts its real likelihood at just 83.2%, a negative EV Gap of -15.3% that signals the contract is overpriced.
Are there any high-value dark horse options hidden in the long-tail data?
Absolutely. Beyond the headline outcomes, our model highlights under-the-radar potential in lower-ranked options. Remain 80%+ holds a positive EV Gap of +1%, and Remain <20% shows +1%. These contracts are discounted by live order books despite stronger quantitative backing.
