About Conflux
Conflux (CFX) is a public layer-1 blockchain that was made to power decentralized applications (dApps), e-commerce, and Web 3.0 infrastructure by being more scalable, decentralized, and secure than existing protocols.Conflux makes it easier to transfer valuable assets by making the process quick, effective, free of network congestion, and with low transaction costs. The platform is based on the Tree-Graph consensus mechanism, and it combines Proof-of-Work (PoW) and Proof-of-Stake (PoS) algorithms to achieve consensus. The protocol uses Turing-complete smart contracts written in Solidity, just like those on Ethereum, and is compatible with the EVM (Ethereum Virtual Machine).Conflux's growth is fueled by CFX, the platform's native token, which gives users financial incentives to participate and engage more. The token is used to pay transaction fees, govern the network, and is given as compensation to miners who help secure the network via staking.

Conflux whitepaper summary
Conflux is an innovative proof-of-work blockchain that allows parallel processing of blocks and transactions while maintaining a final serial chain.
The network aims to solve scalability issues faced by Bitcoin and Ethereum by processing multiple blocks simultaneously, achieving up to 6,000 transactions per second as of 2023, a significant improvement from the initially proposed 4,000 TPS in the whitepaper.
It introduces unique economic mechanisms like storage bonds and interest payments to create sustainable incentives for network participants.
Think of Conflux as a more efficient version of traditional blockchains, where instead of processing transactions one after another like a single-lane road, it can handle multiple transactions simultaneously like a multi-lane highway.
The network uses a special structure called TreeGraph, which allows blocks to be processed in parallel rather than strictly one after another.
This is different from Bitcoin and Ethereum, which can only process blocks one at a time.
The system works through two types of connections between blocks: parent edges and reference edges.
Parent edges form a tree structure, while reference edges help connect blocks in a way that maintains order and security.
This creates a pivot chain, which acts like a backbone for organizing all the parallel blocks.
To keep everything running smoothly, Conflux uses something called the GHAST algorithm.
This helps determine which blocks are most important and how they should be arranged.
As of 2023, the system can handle about 6,000 transactions per second - significantly higher than Bitcoin or Ethereum's current capabilities.
One unique feature is how Conflux handles storage.
Instead of letting users store data forever with just a one-time fee (like Ethereum does), Conflux requires users to lock up tokens as a kind of security deposit for the storage they use.
This helps prevent waste and ensures that people only use storage space they really need.
The Conflux network uses a native token called CFX, which plays several important roles in the ecosystem.
The total supply of CFX tokens is 5 billion, as outlined in the whitepaper.
These tokens are distributed between different groups: private investors (600 million), foundation holdings (200 million), genesis team (1.8 billion), community fund (400 million), and ecosystem fund (2 billion).
CFX tokens can exist in two forms: liquid and illiquid.
Liquid tokens can be transferred freely, while illiquid tokens are locked up for various purposes like staking, purchasing storage space, or gaining voting rights in network governance.
The network implements a staking mechanism where users can earn rewards by participating in network security.
When tokens are used as bonds for storage, the interest goes to miners instead of token holders.
This creates an ongoing incentive for miners to maintain the network.
Miners earn revenue from three sources: block rewards (which started at 7 CFX per block), transaction fees from users, and interest from storage bonds.
The block rewards decrease over time, halving every four years until reaching 1.75 CFX per block, following the model outlined in the original whitepaper.
Conflux has evolved significantly since its initial whitepaper, with several key developments and future plans.
The network has successfully transitioned to a hybrid PoW/PoS consensus mechanism in 2023, enhancing network security and sustainability.
This represents a significant evolution from the original pure PoW system described in the whitepaper.
The Conflux Foundation continues to manage the Community Fund and Ecosystem Fund to support network adoption.
This includes offering bounties and grants to community members and sponsoring smart contracts to encourage development.
The network has established multiple cross-chain bridges and partnerships with major blockchain networks and enterprises.
Future plans include further expansion of cross-chain capabilities and development of layer-2 scaling solutions.
The Foundation maintains its commitment to gradually transitioning governance to a DAO structure, allowing stakeholders greater control over network development and resource allocation.
The Conflux project continues to be backed by a strong combination of academic researchers, technology experts, and industry professionals.
The project maintains its academic roots with key advisors including Andreas Park from the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto and Andreas Veneris from the Departments of Electrical and Computer Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Toronto.
Since the whitepaper, the team has expanded significantly, now including numerous blockchain developers, researchers, and industry experts.
The Conflux Foundation remains a non-profit entity overseeing network development and resource allocation.
The team has grown to include multiple development hubs globally, with significant presence in Asia and North America.
This expansion has helped accelerate network development and adoption while maintaining the original vision outlined in the whitepaper.
