Xanadu and TELUS Collaborate to Advance Quantum Computing Infrastructure in Canada
Xanadu Quantum Technologies and TELUS announced plans to collaborate on advancing sovereign quantum computing infrastructure in Canada, and to exploring the development of a quantum data centre integrated with TELUS' secure, Canadian-controlled, sovereign infrastructure. Under a newly-signed MOU, the two Canadian technology leaders will explore how quantum processors can be combined with high-performance computing systems to create sovereign hybrid quantum-classical computing infrastructure in Canada - one of the first of its kind in the world. By bringing together Xanadu's expertise in photonic quantum computing with TELUS' sovereign AI expertise, advanced data centre operations, and coast-to-coast PureFibre network, this initiative will provide Canadian enterprises, researchers, and government organizations with secure access to next-generation quantum computing capabilities. These capabilities are poised to unlock breakthroughs in fields like AI, drug discovery, materials science, cybersecurity, and national security, all while keeping critical data and intellectual property in Canada, under Canadian control.
Xanadu Partners with ETRI to Advance Quantum Computing Research
Xanadu Quantum Technologies has partnered with the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute, ETRI, on a new two-year collaborative research project. The project is supported by a major grant from the South Korean government to advance the nation's quantum ecosystem. The new research partnership focuses on advancing the software infrastructure required to study and execute complex algorithms for fault-tolerant quantum computing. The collaboration aims to equip researchers with tools to identify algorithmic bottlenecks and optimize resource usage, a critical step toward enabling distributed quantum computing. "It is vital for researchers to understand the quantum resources their algorithms require," said Christian Weedbrook, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Xanadu. "By developing advanced resource estimation and compiler tools in PennyLane and Catalyst, we are providing ETRI with the software capabilities needed to design next-generation algorithms that are both efficient and scalable." Xanadu recently announced a business combination agreement with Crane Harbor Acquisition Corp.
Xanadu Quantum Partners with AMD to Advance Quantum Computing
Xanadu Quantum Technologies announced a "major step forward in bringing quantum computing closer to real-world aerospace and engineering applications" by using AMD (AMD) HPC and AI technologies. By combining Xanadu's PennyLane quantum software with AMD computing solutions on the AMD DevCloud, Xanadu successfully demonstrated how advanced aerospace simulations can be prepared and run in a hybrid quantum-classical environment. Xanadu Quantum Receives $2,027,507 Funding from DOE
Xanadu Quantum Technologies has been selected to receive $2,027,507 in funding from the U.S. Department of Energy Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy. The funding is part of the Quantum Computing for Computational Chemistry program that seeks to develop and apply quantum algorithms to accelerate simulations of chemistry and materials science to advance commercial energy applications ranging from superconducting power lines, advanced batteries, engineered rare earth magnets, and breakthrough catalytic systems. Led by Xanadu, in partnership with the University of Chicago, the three year project will focus on developing quantum algorithms to study key processes of defect formations in battery materials. These simulations will yield critical data essential for accelerating the development of batteries with higher energy densities and extended longevity.
Xanadu Quantum and Crane Harbor SEC Registration Effective, Merger Expected in 2026
Xanadu Quantum Technologies and Crane Harbor Acquisition announced that the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission has declared effective the companies' joint registration statement on Form F-4 in connection with their previously announced proposed business combination. This marks a significant milestone in the transaction process and moves Xanadu substantially closer to becoming a publicly traded company. The business combination is expected to close in the first quarter of 2026, subject to the satisfaction of customary closing conditions, including the approval by Crane Harbor and Xanadu shareholders and the listing of the shares of the combined company on the Toronto Stock Exchange and the Nasdaq Stock Market, which is subject to stock exchange approval. Upon closing, the transaction is expected to result in approximately $500M in gross proceeds, assuming no redemptions.
