Use This Skill When

  • The user wants to infer demand, shortage, oversupply, or pricing power from supply-chain signals.

Required Inputs

  • target: company, product chain, sector, or ecosystem
  • chain scope: upstream suppliers, manufacturing nodes, distributors, OEMs, retailers, or end demand
  • signal set: lead times, capacity utilization, inventories, backlogs, pricing, channel checks, shipment commentary
  • time horizon: current quarter, next 2 to 4 quarters, or cycle
  • known constraints: regulation, logistics bottlenecks, concentration risk, geographic exposure
  • If the supply chain view is only partial, state which nodes are missing and keep conclusions directional.

Workflow

  1. Define the chain and where the target sits in it.
  2. Identify the highest-signal nodes that can lead the target's economics.
  3. Assess:
    • capacity additions or cuts
    • lead time changes
    • inventory build or drawdown
    • order patterns and cancellations
    • pricing pressure or price stabilization
  4. Distinguish signal timing: early-cycle, mid-cycle, late-cycle, or destocking/recovery phase.
  5. Translate the evidence into likely revenue, gross margin, and working capital implications.
  6. Conclude on whether the chain indicates improving demand, oversupply, bottlenecks, or competitive share shift.

  • Keep the analysis causal and chain-specific.
  • Separate upstream evidence from downstream demand evidence.
  • Distinguish volume signals from pricing signals.
  • Include lag logic between node signals and target financial impact.

  • Remove any confident conclusion that rests on only one weak signal source.
